Castelli has an extensive range of products available for women and has always come up trumps when it comes to producing kit that's comfortable for a range of different weather conditions. For summer riding, the Aero Race Bibs are some of the best women's bib shorts we've tried.
The stylish and lightweight Castelli Free Aero Race Bibs are tremendously comfortable for hot days on the bike. With leg hems made from a thin, semi-sheer material, these bibs are perceptibly breathable and feel great against sweaty skin.
Since the sheer material had me reaching for these bibs on hot and sunny days, I quickly discovered the importance of applying sunscreen higher than normal on my legs to avoid sunburn through the sheer portions of the bibs. For reassurance, the sheer panels are located on the legs hem only, not on the main portion of the shorts, and won't have you inadvertently flashing your rear end at the riders behind you.
Castelli’s seamless chamois is a bit thicker than other bibs we put through our grouptest, but it doesn’t feel bulky or slosh around on the saddle. Also, the Free Aero’s laser-cut straps provide a straightforward and comfortable fit for everyday riding.
Like nearly all Castelli gear we’ve tested, the Free Aero Race Bibs run small in sizing. We’d recommend choosing one size larger than your normal size for optimal fit. Once you’ve found the right size, however, the Free Aero Race Bibs look and feel great for hot summer rides.
