Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op 6 Panel Women's Shorts review

At less than £20, these six-panel shorts appear quite basic. But the fact is that they fit really well thanks to a cut that's tailored for women's hips and waists.

Bargain! And not too bad for short rides and under regular clothes

At less than £20, these six-panel shorts appear quite basic. But the fact is that they fit really well thanks to a cut that's tailored for women's hips and waists.

Made from 6.7oz Lycra, the look is tight and classic while the material is amply springy and gives a little for comfort. The wide elastic waistband is sewn in and covered so it doesn't roll or bunch. However, there are no leg grippers and the legs can creep up. In keeping with the basic theme, the chamois is a simple, baseball-stitched design in a rather thin CoolMax pad. It's perfectly comfortable and is well up to the task for shorter rides.

It's also great for wearing under other clothes, so would suit city commuters or others wanting a minimal, discreet pad that just takes the edge off. There's a single tiny logo on the left leg and no other markings - a spot of reflection would have been nice.
