These are exactly the take-anything shorts you would expect from RaceFace. The outer shell is heavier duty than most, and with both belt loops and a separate waist adjustment there was no problem persuading them to stay in place through a ride where everything stayed firmly flap-free.
All that outer toughness is balanced by a great liner, so you get the ideal combination of cossetted ease around the essentials and a high degree of durability.
The relative expense is worth it for shorts that will stand up to the rigours of downhill but doesn’t feel too overwhelming heavy to pedal a few miles either. The 6x6 is also available without a liner for 20 quid cheaper.
