Race Face's Indy shorts are another example of how simplicity of design can be a good thing. They don’t look as ‘technical’ as many of the shorts we've tested, but from the first ride they felt incredibly comfortable.
That’s down to both the combination of fabrics and what’s inside. The body of the shorts is made from a soft-feeling stretch fabric, with a harder, DWR coated outer surface and a softer-textured inner that, along with generous helpings of 3D mesh, ensures you don’t get too sweaty.
The extra-high back has a soft lining and the knees have slippy sections so they slide over pads easily. Add two hip pockets and one zipped one at the back and you’re done.
The design works. These are generously cut shorts though, so you may need to go down one size.
