The Searcher Ride shorts from Nema comprise a light Taslan Nylon outer shell and a removable padded liner, all for a good price. The cut is great, but try before you buy, because our medium size fitted more like a large.
The Velcro waist adjustment did take up quite a bit of the slack, though. The basic liner is comfy on shorter rides but you may need to invest in a different one for all-day blasts. The outer shell is robust considering how light it is, and it handles crappy weather well.
