Not the cheapest but superb fit and features make these a good choice

Intrepid's Mission Shorts are designed for tackling everything from a day's uplift right down to just hacking around the woods on your trail bike. The cut is spot-on; you can tell that time has been invested in getting it right.

They're the perfect length and the soft, fast-wicking waist can be adjusted quickly and easily thanks to the chunky double ratchets at the back, although we do think they'd be better facing backwards rather than forwards. The cuffed lower legs ride smoothly over knee pads and there are sizable inner thigh vents which can be quickly and easily opened.

The chunky feel extends to the zips, and fleece-lined pockets make getting the hands warmed up a doddle too. The pocket at the back is handy for stashing house keys. The cut and weight of the stretchy material is what makes these shorts though. As soon as you have them on you know that they've been born and bred with UK conditions in mind.
