If Rapha did women's clothes, this is what it might look like. It's classy, wool and more than fulfils their pink quota. Better still, it's from Swobo, the San Franciscan company, that's out to reinvent cycling clothing with natural fibres. Think Rapha meets Howies. This goes some way to explaining the price tag, but if you still need convincing, read on.
The 100 per cent NZ Merino is soft, supple and just the right weight for spring rides and summer days when there's still a bit of a breeze. Cut is next to perfect in a close-fitting, though un-clingy shape with good coverage down the back for a riding position. Arm length is comfortable too and the 8in front zip extends up to a mini-collar for wind protection. Two back pockets with elastic are particularly generous for a women's jersey. The look is stunning and the natural fibres are refreshing and odour resistant.
