A competitively priced jersey that doesn't quite fit the bill

Our review
A sub-optimal fit and lack of features means the Scott RC Team 10 Shirt's affordable price is a false economy

Pros:

Array of colours; affordable price point; functional

Cons:

No zipper garage or zipped pocket; overly floaty fit

The Scott RC Team 10 Shirt sits towards the bottom of Scott’s exhaustive jersey collection.

The price is accordingly affordable, and construction is decent.

However, with some key features and fabrics absent, the Team 10 Shirt can’t compare to Scott's higher-priced cycling jerseys.

The Scott RC Team 10 boasts a 100 per cent polyester construction, with the lack of elastane apparent instantly in its floaty fit, on the arms especially.

Like the overall fit, the three open rear pockets of the Scott RC Team 10 are similarly sizeable, great for copious snacks and tools, but they do sag a little when loaded.

I’d have also preferred to see a secure zipped pocket for a phone or keys, as well as a zipper guard for under the chin.

Seven colour choices are available, with the light grey option here being one of the least attractive – I failed to pull it off, and I’d guess any pale-skinned riders would feel the same.

There are six alternative and more striking colour choices, however.

The fit of the sleeves was particularly disappointing. Ashley Quinlan / Our Media

Sizing is a subjective devil, but the Scott RC Team 10 Shirt here instantly felt oversized – a floaty polyester number compared to my much-worn, much-loved lean elastane-infused Scott RC Pro jersey (£89.99).

The hems on the sleeves felt especially baggy.

More positively, the polyester fabric is soft on the skin and dries quickly when out on the roads. Construction quality is decent and the fabric feels resistant to tearing.

Meshed areas are absent here, however, and breathability was notably lacking on midsummer rides. Also lacking is a women’s-specific version, and a XS men’s option is also absent.

Scott RC Team 10 Short Sleeve Shirt bottom line

The fabric dried quickly during testing, although the lack of mesh sections was a negative. Ashley Quinlan / Our Media

The Scott RC Team 10 Shirt is floaty and functional, but sorely missing some key tech and the presence of elastane that would go a long way to improve its on-bike fit.
