The Ekoi Kamo Graphene jersey is certainly expensive, but it delivers high levels of performance to match.
The big story here is the inclusion of graphene in the composition, a material sometimes utilised in tyres, locks and even bike frames (remember Dassi bikes?).
Graphene is reportedly 100 times more tear resistant than steel and is said to regulate body temperature more efficiently as applied here.
Ekoi Kamo Graphene specification
Away from the graphene infusion, the polyester and elastane construction is lightweight and breathable, with the laser-cut dimpled sleeves befitting a top-end cycling jersey.
The Kamo Graphene jersey boasts a trio of rear open pockets, plus a zipped security pocket.
There’s a small zipper garage, but I’d want a more substantial application to help safeguard against rubbing. Likewise, the waist hem with silicone strip is a touch basic for a jersey costing more than £100.
All of the tech means the jersey comes in at well over the £100 mark, although it can often be found with a price reduction on Ekoi’s website.
Ekoi Kamo Graphene performance
The Kamo’s fit is on the tighter, more performance-focused side, but it never felt excessively tight or restrictive. The fabric is comfortable, while internally the seams are kept to a minimum (and those that remain are finished tidily).
How much this is down to the (admittedly minimal) graphene inclusion is unclear. However, I didn’t overheat when tackling hills in the Peloponnese region of Greece this summer, so there’s success on that front.
Getting a phone into the zipped security pocket is a struggle, so you’ll need to reserve this for smaller items such as keys, cards and bank notes. Worryingly (and probably due to that phone wrestle), I’ve already caused a minor tear in the material at the top of the pocket.
The three open pockets are taut when loaded and easy enough to access, although there are bigger options out there for all-day or multi-day adventures.
The Kamo imprint looks great, construction quality is high and, that pocket aside, it feels durable.
Where it faces a major challenge is from the competition at – or just below – its price point, including the Giro Chrono Elite (£119.99) and Lusso Paragon (£105).
Ekoi Kamo Graphene bottom line
The Ekoi Kamo Graphene offers high-level performance, advanced material technology and excellent breathability.
It's a striking-looking jersey that won't let you down when temperatures soar.
However, all of that quality comes at a high price and the zipped pocket may well be too small for your needs.
