Companies such as Woolistic and Rapha have made wool cool again, and now online retailer Wiggle’s own clothing brand DHB is offering old-school long sleeve wool/ acrylic mix jerseys in the colours of Eddy Merckx’s Molteni and Faema teams and Rik van Looy’s Solo-Superia squad.
They certainly look the part, and the price is tempting when compared to other woolies, but unlike pricier offerings they don’t contain the softer, wicking Merino wool that makes for true performance kit.
As a result they’re less pleasant next to the skin and work better after as purely post-ride apparel.
