Available in black or bright yellow, Scott’s Helium jacket is fully waterproof, with taped seams, and as breathable as we’ve come to expect from Gore-Tex’s Paclite fabric. Zipped waist pockets help to make it practical off the bike too and there’s a zip-on/off hood with pull-cord adjustment.
The fit is incredibly comfy, with slightly elasticated panels behind the shoulders improving snug fit mobility plus a dropped back and long sleeves for a thoroughly practical on-the-bike cut. Small pit zips under the arms help excess heat escape.
There’s a zipped MP3 player chest pocket, and reflective but subtle Scott logos and piping at the back add night safety. There’s no getting away from the fact that this is a lot of money for a one-skin jacket though, however good the performance of the material.
