Our review
Highly breathable and high performance jacket that really does make a difference

The Helium AS uses the Gore Active Shell fabric that we like so much. Combined with a bike-specific cut it makes this a very compelling option for serious all-weather riders who want maximum breathability. We’ve worn a few different Scott jackets recently and the fit is very consistent across all styles – it manages to be slim without being skinny. The back is long, even on a tall tester, and combined with the high funnel neck you feel very protected.

The hood rolls and fastens when not in use, and although it doesn’t fit over a helmet, it goes comfortably underneath, especially if you cinch in any excess volume with the drawcord. Instead of pit zips there are angled side vents. The breathability of the material is so good we didn’t use them much, but when we did we thought they were effective at cooling and easy to open halfway up a steadily hotting up climb. Its own stash sack makes the Helium easy to pack. It’s an investment but we reckon it’s worth it.
