Pleasingly lightweight – but a little too light on capability for the price

The Nano Pullover jacket from Race Face is a light, easily packable layer that’ll help keep those pesky summer showers at bay – but it’s certainly not cheap.

It’s water resistant rather than waterproof, so it’ll keep you reasonably dry in lighter rain but you’ll need something more substantial if you’re venturing out in a downpour. This makes the hefty price tag pretty tough to swallow.

The removable hood is handy off the bike, but because it’s so light it can flap about when riding. We whipped it off pretty early on. Rather than a full zip up the front, the Nano has a 3/4-length offering, so the jacket’s easier to put on if you take your helmet off first.

The fleece-lined collar is extremely comfortable and helps to offer some respite from the elements. The perforated underarms and huge meshed vent at the rear help prevent overheating when it’s balmy out so you don’t get too sticky.
