If you want to look futuristic in filthy weather then this quality featherweight performer from Race Face is bang-on trend.
The semi-transparent membrane with its ‘love it or hate it’ silvery sheen will divide riders, but the reflective logo and lime green stripes lift it above the transparent race capes designed for roadies.
It’s more than just an emergency shell too, shrugging off showers and light snow perfectly happily for longer than we expected. The membrane fabric breathes impressively and the mesh armpit sections seem to help too.
As a result, we ended up leaving it on right through changeable weather and high-energy rides. When you do take it off, it stuffs into its own natty zipped back pocket for protection too.
You’ll find no other pockets, which keeps the weight and pack size down, but the lined collar improves comfort and there’s loads of reflective detailing.
Be careful with it though – while we’ve not torn it yet, similar membrane jackets we’ve had have been fragile. However, we think it’s pretty good value for the price.
