We’re a little bit in love with the Hyena because it might be that elusive mix of street smart and trail tough that we’ve spent most of our cycling lives in search of.
Not mountain bike specific, but designed for general mountain use, the cut nevertheless works well on a bike – close enough to wick effectively when you get moist, but loose enough to look casual and the back hem is dropped just enough to give coverage in the saddle.
The main body fabric is Polartec Powershield, which is brushed and warm inside but abrasion, wind and water resistant on the outside. While we couldn’t bring ourselves to test the abrasion resistance to its limits, the ability to regulate temperature while keeping all but the worst wind and rain off is excellent.
All the comfort details are here – zip garage, draught fl ap, soft lined collar. The only one we’re not so keen on is the Velcro adjustment at the cuff – it seems out of keeping with the otherwise sleek comfort of this jacket. We’d like one of these for every day please.
