Unusually, Assos's iJ.BonKa.6 jacket – along with other garments from the Swiss maker – comes in two fit options, the more generous Mille, and Cento for the very athletic. We must stress very, as the Cento is tailored specifically for a cycling position with almost no wriggle room.
Get it right though, and you’ll appreciate the detailed construction, with five different lining fabrics, all varying densities depending on position.
Except for the thermal fabric back panel, the lining is covered by an Assos’s independent Stratagonultra Airblock shell layer, which is stretchy and hardwearing. It’s no more water resistant, but insulates exceptionally well, and the snug collar can be supplemented by a thermal collar that tucks under a loop when not wanted, and stretches to cover the nose if needed.
Gear stowage is amply catered for by three deep drop pockets and zipped media pockets on each side too. It’s eye-wateringly expensive, but offers outstanding winter protection.
