A welcome answer to scaphoid injuries, but at the expense of a comfortable grip

What’s different about these gloves compared to other high protection options on the market is Knox’s SPS (Scaphoid Protection System), which they originally developed for use in motorsports so it’s able to handle the knocks.

Two low-friction plastic slider plates on the palms aim to eliminate the ‘grab effect’ and scaphoid injuries by dissipating impact energy in the event of a crash.

Although a solution to one of the most common mountain bike injuries is attractive, these gloves won’t suit everyone. In particular, their rigidity and the extra thickness of the slider plates under the palms can make it difficult to get a relaxed grip on the bars.
