Giro's Proof 100 is an oddball idea that works brilliantly once you get used to its quirks. These are three gloves in one: an inner for mild weather, an outer for colder days, and you can combine the two for riding in temperatures down to -10°C.
The lobster-claw design means you lose the separation of index and middle finger, which may mean changing how you shift gear. In practice this didn’t cause any issues, but while the inners are thin enough for minor tweaking, we did find operating zips a bit fiddly when wearing both pairs. However, for prolonged sub-zero rides these did a great job of keeping our hands warm and their versatility makes them good value.
