The Endura Deluge winter gloves – as their name suggests – are designed to protect your hands from the heaviest downpours.
The Deluge has been a staple in the Scottish brand’s range for nearly a decade, with this latest version getting a recent refresh.
They've impressed me with their performance in wet and cold conditions, making them near-ideal all-round winter gloves.
Endura Deluge winter gloves specs and details
The outer on the back of the hand is made from a heavy-duty ripstop-like polyester weave. It’s treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) finish.
On the inside is a lightly wicked, brushed lining that’s soft to the touch and designed to retain warmth.
Sandwiched between these two layers is a combination of a fully waterproof membrane and 3M Thinsulate insulation.
The suede-like palm has plenty of silicone grip printed on it and key parts of the palm are gel-padded.
Endura says it has improved the shape of the Deluge by extending the cuff and fastening with a single Velcro strap that tensions on the inside of the wrist. This is an improvement on the previous version, where it was positioned on top of the wrist and caught on jacket cuffs too often.
The Deluge gloves come in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL, and in either this bright fluro yellow or a more subtle black.
Endura Deluge winter gloves performance
The fit is close, with my size-XL test pair being one of the smallest in the 2023 test cohort. However, it suited my hand shape well.
On the bike, the close fit proved a boon, especially when dealing with Shimano Di2 buttons and a Garmin touchscreen.
Endura hasn’t skimped on the details, with both reflective print and a reflective insert on the forefinger – I found this useful for more visually obvious signalling when riding after dusk.
Where the Deluge gloves excel most is, perhaps unsurprisingly, in the rain.
The hardy exterior sheds water impressively and they stay warm inside.
The soft, lightweight palms can’t keep heavier rain out completely and get damp. That said, they never got cold during testing.
The silicone grip and lightness of the palms enable great feel of the handlebar and loads of grip.
I’ve used the Endura Deluge gloves to commute, for fast road rides and for winter gravel riding – they’ve been almost perfect throughout.
Endura Deluge winter gloves bottom line
The Endura Deluge gloves do everything the best winter gloves for cold and wet conditions should.
The design has evolved from previous generations to fit better, with less bulk, and they offer a more tactile feel of the handlebar.
They're close to the perfect winter gloves.
