The DHB Neoprene gloves are, as the name suggests, constructed from neoprene, the same material that wetsuits are made from.
The idea with these gloves is not to keep your hands dry, but to keep them warm when they're wet. The neoprene traps a layer of water, which your body warms as it's kept against your skin.
In the rain they work very well and have kept our hands warm throughout multiple wet rides. During use our hands never got too hot or cold, even in the wind. They're warm if worn in the dry but lack breathability, leading to sweaty hands.
The downside to neoprene is that it takes a long time to properly dry. After use throughout sustained rain, this pair took more than 36 hours to become completely free of moisture. After a wet morning commute, putting a pair of still-wet gloves back on for the ride home is unpleasant.
These are well made and comfortable. The palms and area round the thumbs feature reinforced panels, and there are good velcro tabs for closure. The backs of the hands include reflective detailing to keep your extremities visible.
Considering these are designed for wet weather, we’d like to see slightly longer cuffs, but this is only a problem if your jacket arms are a little short. If you know your ride is going to be wet, these are great for keeping your hands warm.
