Classy, versatile and very comforatble

Polyester is hardly the magic material that springs to mind when thinking about technical base layers but this has proved to be a versatile and competent performer. The long sleeved design with quarter length zip is much closer to a jersey, and comfort is exceptional, helped in no small part by the flat seams and the turtleneck collar which keeps out the chill without being restrictive.

In keeping with most breathable base layers I've tried of late, 20 minutes' hard riding brings a brief glow of dampness which is rapidly wicked away, leaving me consistently warm and dry. Long sleeves make for an excellent three-seasons garment and extend the life of summer jerseys without the need for arm warmers - in fact the unseasonably temperate weather has allowed me to enjoy early morning rides in a short sleeved jersey while wearing this underneath.

Black also ensures it will complement anything in the wardrobe and care is very simple - just pop in with the general washing and regular detergent at 40 degrees. Sizing might be a bit generous for some - I'm usually a large but a medium fitted just fine, so try before buying.
