Lightweight starter for the perfect winter layering system

A good layering system will keep you snug all winter long and Helly Hansen’s trademark stripey sleeves have been the basis of the hardy outdoor types’ wardrobe for years.

The synthetic fabric is Helly’s own LIFA Dry (53 per cent LIFA/ polypropylene, and 47 per cent polyester), which does an ace job of shifting sweat from your skin. It stays stink-free for a ride, but don’t push it for two.

The close cut keeps fabric in contact with skin throughout for maximum wicking, plus there’s plenty of length in the body and streamlined cuffs for tucking into gloves to keep hands warm. Stitching is flatlock, so seams don’t rub under straps.

It washes at 40º and dries within minutes of coming out of the machine, so it’s great for everyday riders or weekends away on minimal kit. Lurid floral looks great underneath a plain jersey, or try mix’n’match patterns to give your mates a headache.
