If you’ve broken your wrist and need some extra support to get back in the saddle, the X8 brace is well worth a look. It comes in two sizes and you really need to follow Mobius’s pre-purchase measuring advice to get the right fit.
The articulated upper brace features a tension dial, which is connected via a wire to the heavily-padded cross brace that sits below the wrist to provide adjustable support.
To keep it in place, an inner padded liner hooks over your middle finger and there’s a Velcro security strap on the forearm. I found the adjustable level of support extremely useful and was surprised by just how hard I was able to ride after a serious break and three months off the bike.
If your arm and wrist begin to fatigue, you can crank up the tension and support. It doesn’t feel like range of motion is impeded, yet the support on offer is seriously impressive.
Being fussy, I’d have liked a little more padding around the top of the brace, under the strap, because this started to feel uncomfortable after a few hours riding. But this is a minor niggle, because the Mobius X8 was an amazing help with getting back on the bike after injury.
