The Vertical LD isn’t cheap, but the comfort and protection on offer go a long way towards justifying the price tag

The slim-fitting Vertical LD body armour from Bliss is far less bulky than a traditional armour jacket but still offers a decent level of protection. Thanks to the stretchy Lycra base and cleverly articulated Armourgel padding, you soon forget you’re wearing it.

Movement remains unrestricted around the elbows and shoulders, and it’s only when things start to warm up that you start to notice the back protector, because it’s the first thing to get sweaty. The close fit of the armour means you can slip a regular jersey over the top without looking like you’re about to play a game of American football.

In terms of coverage, the wide spine guard protects the essentials without sitting so low that it’ll interfere with the top of your shorts and the well-shaped shoulder and elbow pads extend nicely over the joints.
