The Rift has decent head coverage and a well positioned peak, but it feels heavy and the shortage of side vents can make your head hot. Worth considering if pointy lines don’t appeal and you want a more subtle lid.
Those stumpy looks are a nod towards the tougher lines of the higher-priced Giro Xen. There’s a shortage of vents on the sides, making things toasty in warm weather. It’s on the heavy side, too, although coverage feels substantial, particularly over the back of the head.
Cam-lock buckles are easy to adjust and the peak sits well out of the way, improving visibility without affecting protection. We failed to make the Acu-Dial adjuster work satisfactorily with one hand, but using two is no big deal if it gets the universal fit dialled in.
