Fox aren't specialist helmet manufacturers, which explains why the Flux is the only trail lid in their range. What it doesn’t explain is why they've made such a good job of it.
We’ll get the niggles out of the way first. Firstly, the peak (US: visor) isn’t adjustable, which would be a useful added bonus, and the Flux is leaning towards the weighty end of the helmet spectrum.
Then there’s the spoiler on the rear, which isn’t removable. It’s an acquired taste that we expect will split aesthetic opinion right down the middle.
Fit, however, is superb, thanks in part to the deep shell and helped along by the dual ratchet retention system.
The wraparound in-moulded shell, which extends around the base and well into the helmet’s interior, adds a generous dollop of real-world practicality.
And although there are arguably better-vented helmets out there, the Flux makes a decent fist of sucking a cooling breeze through your hair with its generously proportioned front vents and pair of deep internal channels.
But while it’s true that there are helmets out there that are lighter and better vented, none can match the Flux’s combination of price, practicality, overall fit and comfort. It’s a worthy one-hit wonder.
