At 237g, the Pheos helmet is aimed at weight weenie whippets who want decent protection at a super-light weight. It’s comfy, partially because it’s so light that it feels as if it’s hardly there, and partly because the retention system has been well thought out.
The retention system pivots just above your ear so fits on most shapes and sizes of head. Adjustment is through a large plastic click wheel, which looks a bit cheap and would be more at home on a £30 lid.
That said, its size isn’t necessarily a bad thing – it means youcan still adjust the fit easily with gloves on. The buckle is a basic sliding ratchet fitment often found on kids' helmets, and the chunky, cheap looking adjustments feel out of place on a £130 lid.
The outer protection is reinforced with carbon and the shell is really well vented. It's obviously well made but we’d expect more refinement for the pricetag it carries.
