Shimano MT40 Mtb review

Shimano MT40 Mtb review

The MT40s replace the popular MO38s. Noticeably, there's less padding, especially on the tongue and foot collar. So they dry more quickly but are not quite as plush straight out of the box.

Our review
A well-priced, well-specced shoe for town and trail

The MT40s replace the popular MO38s. Noticeably, there's less padding, especially on the tongue and foot collar. So they dry more quickly but are not quite as plush straight out of the box.

The outsole has been improved with better heel traction and a little more depth for the cleat, with the outer lugs slightly raised - though as ever, even more would be better. The sole is amply stiff for riding but offers some flex under weight. The fit is roomy all round, particularly in the toe box.

The upper is a mixture of suede and a tight nylon mesh.

There're reflectors on the outside and heel. Laces allow the shoe to be pulled in tight, with a simple Velcro strap to tuck away stray ends. They look more urban than before, in a practical two-toned grey and black that looks as good in town as on the bike.
