The Hollywood F1B comes with a lifetime warranty for the original owner, its basic design means it’s easy to use, and it’s fairly cheap. But there are other three-bike racks that we’d rather spend our money on.
Similar racks adjust to a multitude of positions to suit the shape of your car, but the hinged frame of the F1B has just three. We’d prefer to angle the arms so the bikes could always be tilted upwards, but on our VW Golf test car the arms were almost parallel with the ground.
The arms are ridged to discourage the bikes from sliding along, and there’s a strap to make sure, but it’s all a bit basic.
The squashy material fitted to the carrier’s metal frame should prevent your bikes from getting scuffed or scratched, but that’s about as far as it goes for clever thinking.
