Designed and made in the UK, this new rear mudguard from Mudhugger could give you and your washing machine a bit of a break. There are versions for all three wheel sizes, and once fitted, the Mudhugger’s close-fitting wraparound design does a brilliant job of keeping your rear end dry and muck free. Plus, because it mounts to your bike’s seatstays instead of the seatpost, there’s no issue with running a dropper post.
Despite sitting close to the rear tyre the guard is stiff enough that we haven’t had any problems with buzz, even after landing from drops and jumps. But the plastic isn’t so brittle that it won’t survive the odd crash. It’s not the prettiest of additions to your bike, but if you can live with the looks it’s some of the best mud protection out there.
