The new Hiplok Lite is a lighter version of the Hiplok V1.50 – it weighs just 1kg. It’s a 6mm hardened steel chain in a sheath that can be worn like a belt.
The shackle’s toughened case doubles as a buckle for the sheath’s hook and loop strap to pass through. It’s comfortable to wear this way, and is better than carrying it in a bag or on your bike. It has reflective detailing too.
With a Sold Secure Bronze rating, it’s rated against opportunist thieves – so we tested that with 24in bolt croppers. When it was on the bike, we couldn’t get enough leverage to cut through it. With it on the floor, it took 12.3 seconds to cut through using our full bodyweight – although that’s not how a thief would be trying to break it. The thicker, toughened shackle would hold out longer still.
For short rides, the Hiplok Lite is perfect.
