Described by Abus as a budget anchor, the WA50 still comes complete with fitting bolts – super-long 100mm ones. The anchor itself is constructed with high-grade toughened steel and its back plate interlocks around the one-piece anchor, effectively sandwiching it.
The hoop section has folded lips, doubling the width of the edge if you try to cut it. This is made of tough stuff so trying to cut it with a standard saw is futile. The half moon opening is 68mm deep by 58mm wide, fitting medium sized chains well.
The bolts are recessed through two layers of plate steel and come with two blanking plates to hammer into the face of the anchor, making them practically impossible to get at. The WA50’s minimal design and compact size make this a great option if space is at a premium. And don’t be fooled by the budget label – this is one serious and tough little anchor.
