Several excellent, practical design features undermined by feeble output

Magicshine lights have a great reputation for value among mountain bikers and this new commuter design uses a distinctive design with some potentially promising features.

The twin up and under LED arrangement gets additional side indicators to increase in-traffic vision slightly. Different mount belts for different bar sizes and shapes swap easily and tighten with an Allen key for extra security. A very easy to remove/fit cleat attachment onto the bar mount makes it straightforward to take with you if you lock it up in town.

The unique backlit LCD screen on the top is a really smart addition and gives percentage and actual run time battery indication. Unfortunately the diffuser over the lower LED and low overall power makes for a disappointingly dim beam with only a vague glow in the near/mid distance and very little close in or side illumination. That makes the four lower powered options designed to eke out battery life even less useful away from lit streets and leaves a potentially excellent future light disappointing for now.
