The Betty R7 is a proper weapon of night destruction with some great features, but battery life is very short at full power, and Lupine's reliability record isn't great.
Using seven of some of the most powerful LEDs around, the Betty R7 blasts 4,500 lumens down the trail at max power, making this the brightest light we've ever used. The flip side is it can flatten the battery in 30 to 40 mins, so full power needs to be used sparingly. The default output settings are too widely spread, but you can customise them via a simple menu.
The crisply- machined latch positions the light centrally, and there's a Bluetooth remote switch as well as the lamp-mounted one, which is great for easy control.
The lamp and battery have run indicators (which you really need) and you get full battery condition and charge feedback from the Charger One setup. A car charger lead, helmet mount and spare straps are included in the soft carry bag.
We had very inconsistent run times with this pre- production light, and we've also had battery failures, head flooding and connector issues over the past years from Lupine, which is disappointing for the prices.
