Lumicycle’s ultra tough UK made lights have been loved by mountain bikers for years, and there’s always been an opaque lens surround option for in-traffic visibility. The Freeway is a dedicated road light from the start though, with a very tightly focused beam that means tons of power exactly where's it's pointed.
Fall off at the sides or under the main beam is extremely rapid with just a bit of ambient light ahead of the front wheel, which can reduce cornering and rough road confidence. The contrast can also be a bit tiring on the eyes on the longer rides.
The old-skool winter glove friendly toggle switch lets you toggle either way through four constant power levels and one flash mode. A big peak over the lens stops glare if you’re climbing out of the saddle too.
Built in power and battery indicator LEDs communicate how much of the very long run time is left and there are double sized battery options for epic Audax missions. The QR round bar cam clamp is easy to fit, all Lumi head and battery units are cross compatible for easy upgrading and reliability has always been excellent too.
The Freeway is not distributed in Australia or the US, but Lumicycle does ship worldwide.
