Decently priced and effective but won't make much difference on shorter rides

This lightly scented, non-greasy cream was originally developed for use on dairy cows’ udders, to be applied by farmers when milking. Now the idea is that you apply it to the chamois pad of your cycling shorts before starting a long ride.

The cream softens and lubricates the chamois, helping to prevent chafing. It might seem unnecessary but it does keep you much more comfortable ‘down there’, especially if you ride a lot or are heading out for longer outings of about two hours or more. It also helps prevent sores and infection.
