A few pennies shy of £75 is a competitive price for one roof-mounted carrier, but this is for a twin-pack. Given that the Halfords Advanced is effectively less than half the price of the competition, you’d expect some corners to have been cut, but build quality is far from shabby.
There’s no penny pinching in the spec, either. The rack can be locked to the car and the bike locked to the rack, and the wide, open tyre channels mean the rack will take tourers or mountain bikes as well as racing bikes.
Two different fixings are supplied for the down-tube clamp, depending on the size of the tubes, which is a pain if you have bikes of different sizes, but otherwise, this rack is superb value.
