The Avenir Pisa comes largely assembled, which is just as well because the instruction leaflet isn’t too easy to follow.
Attaching the Pisa to the towbar isn’t complicated, once the right amount of tension has been set on the clamp.
Too little and the rack will turn once you’re on the move; too much and the lever will need too much force to close the clamp, however much you lean on it.
While there’s not too much brain power needed to fit the Pisa, it does take some muscle, since this is a heavy rack. It’s worth having a helper.
Up to three bikes can be attached using a mix of straps to hold the wheels and clamps which secure to the frame. They all seem to work – after our test drive there was no sign of the rack or bike having moved in transit.
