The Granite Quiver Tool Roll is designed to carry essential tools, lightweight inner tubes and anything else you can fit in there on your bike rather than on your person.

Made from a splash-proof material, it's said to keep items safe from grit, mud, water and other trail debris, costing £34.99 / $36.99.

Designed to fit snugly under your saddle, Granite claims the Quiver does not interfere with dropper posts, giving ample clearance when the saddle is dropped low.

A ratchet dial-closure system is used to lock the tool roll in place, whether under the saddle, or on the top tube or down tube. It's designed to be easy to swap between bikes.

The roll consists of three pockets, one with a zip for extra security. Granite states it should not be used with standard butyl mountain bike inner tubes, but can carry the lighter TPU tubes from brands such as Tubolito or smaller butyl road tubes.

The Quiver Tool Roll is 28X23cm and weighs 67g unloaded.

On-frame tool storage | How we tested

We tested these on-bike tool-storage solutions in a plethora of conditions, ranging from hot and dusty days to torrential rain and sloppy trails.

They were tested out on the trail in all conditions and ridden on different terrain to test their stability and suitability for different disciplines of mountain biking.

Where tools were included, they were tested trail-side, with the exception of tubeless-repair equipment and chain breakers, which were tested in the workshop.

Granite Quiver Tool Roll performance

The Quiver Tool Roll is an effective solution to storing items on the bike. The Boa-style fastener is quick and easy to release and tighten, which makes it perfect for swapping between bikes.

This made it a versatile option because it can fit pretty much anywhere on the bike, and in general it holds firm.

My test Quiver Tool Rool only bounced loose once during months of riding, but I still recommend ensuring it's fixed in place adequately before hurtling down the rough stuff to make sure it always stays put.

Although not fully waterproof, its material is splash-proof, helping keep items protected and dry in all but torrential rain.

The internal zip pocket is a nice touch for cards, keys and small items such as chain links.

When fixed under the saddle, the Quiver didn’t rub my dropper seatpost’s stanchion, and there was plenty of space to fit all the essential trail-side repair items without being too cumbersome.

While Granite states it’s not compatible with mountain bike inner tubes, I managed to squeeze a normal 29-inch tube in there at a push. However, it has not been designed for this, so be wary of fatigue of the ratchet system and thread caused by the extra volume and weight.

The closure system is constructed with a fine thread, which started to show slight deterioration on my test sample.

Despite its size, I experienced some leg rub when it was fixed under the saddle or top tube. Care needs to be taken to ensure it's in a suitable place; I favoured positioning the Quiver roll under the rear of the saddle and once positioned correctly it went unnoticed until I needed it.

Its quick-release design is a big positive. It can be transferred quickly between bikes and is easy to whip off to access your tools when you need them.

The Granite Quiver Tool Roll is an excellent option for storing tools and other items. It's easy to secure, generally sturdy and quick to release; this is ideal for accessing your tools and switching between bikes.

However, it's not compatible with standard MTB inner tubes, which is something to consider if you prefer carrying one of these.
