Plans for a £1m velodrome in York, which will host a stage start of the 2014 Tour de France, have been approved.
York City councillors approved plans for the 250m Roubaix-style outdoor track yesterday, reports the BBC.
The track will be built on the University of York Sports Village campus and is being funded by a mixture of British Cycling, Sport England, and York City Council cash. It will complement a new 1km road circuit at the campus.
