Strider has just launched the ST-R, an $899.99 all-carbon performance balance bike that claims to offer “two-wheeled luxury” that is “better than fresh avocado toast”.
![strider-st-r-2-1535711311481-16jxibm4t6g5j-1ac43dd That is quite the build...](https://c02.purpledshub.com/uploads/sites/39/2019/03/strider-st-r-2-1535711311481-16jxibm4t6g5j-1ac43dd.jpg?webp=1&w=1200)
The ST-R is built around a custom carbon frameset, which is matched with a build that most grownups would be jealous of — highlights include Cane Creek’s super light AER headset, a custom toddler-friendly stubby stem, carbon bars, a carbon seatpost and 12” carbon wheels fitted with Schwalbe Big Apple tyres.
The whole package weighs just 2.5kg and costs a (knowingly) ridiculous $899.99. The waitlist for pre-orders is now open.
Balance bike racing is a thing now so there will no doubt be an audience of keen parents who won’t settle for anything but the best for their athletes-in-waiting. For them, the ST-R might just be the balance bike of choice.
