Built specifically for Team Sky’s assault on stage 20 of the Tour de France, this brand new Jaguar F-Type Coupé, and its 5-litre V8 supercharged engine, will mean the team’s sport directors will have no problem keeping up with their riders in this Saturday’s individual time trial.
This special version of Jaguar’s newest performance car was built for Team Sky by the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations team. In addition to the resplendent custom paintjob, the car includes bespoke features such as a built in rear rack, which carries two of the team’s Pinarello Bolide TT bikes.
There’s also a separate electric supply in the boot to power all the radios, amps, microphones, horns and televisions that the team’s sport directors need to keep tabs on the race and communicate with riders from the comfort of the team car.
Sir Dave Brailsford, team principal at Team Sky, said: “Jaguar is an iconic British brand that has been an integral partner for Team Sky for over four years. We have already benefited from their high performance credentials and expertise in technological capabilities and engineering innovations, particularly with the recent development of the Pinarello Dogma F8. This F-Type concept is a world class vehicle that will help get the best out of the team on the TT stages.”
There’s bad news for those whose enormously deep pockets are burning with cash at the idea of this unique set of wheels though – Jaguar has no plans to put any version of the Team Sky F-Type into production.
