We took a first look at a pre-production version of Scott's time trial helmet, Split, back in March after seeing GreenEDGE win the Tirreno-Adriatico team time trial in them. But we now have one in the office.
The 329g helmet will cost £169./$209 (without visor) when it goes on sale in September 2012. Developed over the course of two years, goals for the lid were to achieve the lowest drag coefficient possible, a dynamic ventilation system, an adjustable, comfortable fit and an advanced optical solution in the form of a fully integrated visor.
Hours of wind tunnel testing at the Australian Institute of Sport proved the first three aims had been ticked off, while the latter was achieved with a clip-in shield that will be available in 93, 68 and 15 percent light transmission levels. A UK price for the visor will be confirmed in time for the Eurobike trade show later this month, though in the US it will cost $299.
Scott Road Premium Pro Teams
These Scott shoes were debuted at the Tour de France on the feet of Orica GreenEDGE riders. They're the Pro Team version of the Road Premium shoes and have been revamped for 2013 following feedback from the Australian squad.
Designer Luke Fryer says fit has been enhanced with a new upper construction that blends breathability and support. The Boa dials have been refined, with a bigger radius between the wire loops for a better distribution of pressure. Better padding on the tongue gives a more comfortable fit. A Velcro strap has been included for a more tailored fit.
Like the previous models, they have full carbon soles and weigh 652g. They'll be available in September for £249/$392.
