Schwalbe has released a 38mm-wide version of its Pro One tyre, that will be specced exclusively on the new Scott Solace eRide – for the time being.

The tyre, made especially for Scott’s new electric road bike, will eventually be available to buy aftermarket.

The chunkiest Schwalbe Pro One TLE was previously 30mm for 700c wheels. The 38mm Pro One is wider than the majority of road bike tyres, yet narrower than most gravel bike tyres.

Earlier this year, Trek released the 2023 Domane+ SLR, another electric road bike specced with 40mm tubeless tyres.

This reflects the trend for all-road bikes and fast gravel bikes, which are more adept at gravel racing than rooty singletrack.

Scott has provided precious few details on the Pro One 38mm, other than that you will be able to buy it separately from Schwalbe.

BikeRadar's technical writer Oscar Huckle comments on the tyre’s performance in his Scott Solace eRide 10 first ride review.

This is not the first time Schwalbe has tantalisingly teased an as-yet-unreleased Pro One at a Scott launch.

In 2019, the first disc-brake only Scott Addict RC had Schwalbe prototype tyres in a new 28mm width.

A tan-wall Schwalbe Pro One was briefly available to buy in Australia only, to the dismay of colourful sidewall devotees elsewhere.

Back in April, at London’s Cycle Show, we spotted a white Schwalbe Pro One x Spartacus tyre.

The collaboration between the German brand and cobbled classics legend Fabian Cancellara was limited to 2,000 pieces.
