With three new products, RockyMounts is making it easier than ever to transport your thru-axle equipped road or mountain bike on your vehicle.
"While the growth and variety of thru-axle sizes has been great for bikes, it's limited the rack choices for their owners. We're stoked to offer thru-axle riders new fork-mount options with our SwtichHitter Rack, HotRod truck mounts, and StreetRod thru-axle adapter," said RockyMounts President Bruno Maier.
The SwitchHitter resembles a traditional fork-mount rack, but it can accommodate bikes with a variety of styles and sizes of thru-axle systems. The rack arrives ready for 9mm quick release forks and includes three easily interchangeable axles for 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) thru-axle forks. The SwitchHitter is not compatible with 20x110 thru-axle forks commonly found on downhill, and longer travel forks.
RockyMounts' versatile SwitchHitter rack arrives ready for 9mm quick release forks as well as 12x100mm, 15x100mm and "Boost 110" (15x110mm) thru-axles
The SwitchHitter's universal fit installs on round, square and most factory crossbars and includes a kit for T-slot mounting on Euro-style bars. The rack follows RockyMounts' design principles on aerodynamics and fuel efficiency with its low-profile shape. Security is also a priority with the new rack, which comes with an integrated cable lock for the bike and the ability to lock the rack to the crossbars. The SwitchHitter is available in eight different colors for $189.
The SwitchHitter is a welcome addition to the surprisingly small field of thru-axle compatible fork-mount carriers. Kuat’s $209 Trio is the only other similar rack. It accepts 9mm quick-release, 15x100, and 20x110 thru-axle forks out of the box, and Boost and fat bike sizes are available separately for $19-$29.
Next up, the StreetRod is a new adapter (commonly called a “fork up”) for standard 9mm fork-mount racks that makes it possible to securely carry thru-axle bikes. Made of tough, non-corrosive 6063 aluminum and available in a range of six anodized colors, the new adapter attaches to fork-mount racks from any manufacturer. The $49 StreetRod ships with three axles to accommodate bikes with 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) sized axles.
Need to upgrade your current fork mount rack? The StreetRod clamps to your existing quick release rack to secure forks with 12x100mm, 15x100mm and "Boost 110" (15x110mm) thru-axles.
The $49 HotRod is a new bolt-on truck and home storage mount for bikes with thru-axles. Three interchangeable axles are included to accommodate bikes with 12x100, 15x100 and "Boost 110" (15x110) sizes. The 6063 aluminum mount can also be converted to work with standard 9mm quick-release bikes with an optional kit, sold separately, and is available in six anodized colors. For those with Toyota, Nissan, Chevrolet, and GMC truck beds and aftermarket Unistrut channels, RockyMounts offers a $19 Track Hardware Kit for attaching HotRods to original equipment channels.
RockyMounts' HotRod fork mounts can be bolted almost anywhere, and are compatible with aftermarket, or factory-installed, Unistrut channels commonly found in pickup truck beds
To our knowledge, both the StreetRod and the HotRod are the first multi-diameter fork adapters to hit the market. While compatible with the most common axle sizes, the StreetRod and HotRod fail to work with the downhill-standard 20x110 thru-axle, and the multiple sizes of fat bike forks.
RockyMounts is also introducing the LoBall line of traditional quick-release fork mounts for standard 9mm forks. The LoBall family includes three different products for trucks, trailers, vans and home storage. All three models consist of powder-coated 6063 aluminum bases with chromoly quick releases. The $25 LoBall is non-locking, the $49 LoBall Locking features a robust keyed locking quick release, and the $69 LoBall Track is a locking fork-mount compatible with original equipment Toyota, Nissan, Chevrolet, and GMC truck bed channels and aftermarket Unistrut channels.
The LoBall is the answer for standard 9mm quick release forks. Three options are available: locking (center), non-locking (upper right), and a locking Unistrut channel compatible version (lower left)
All four of the new products are available from authorized RockyMounts retailers and from RockyMounts' website.
