Pinnacle have unveiled a new range of carbon fibre road bikes for 2012. Described as "lightweight, highly-efficient mile-eaters", the three Evaporite models are said to be aimed at "anyone wanting a fast ride for sportives, century rides and racing".
All use the same uni-directional carbon frame, with oversize down tube, BB30 bottom bracket, tapered (1-1/2 to 1-1/8in) head tube and matching full-carbon fork. Head tubes are fairly tall (135-235mm, depending on frame size) and seatstays are slim, suggesting an emphasis on long-ride comfort.
Evaporite One
At £1,199.99 the Evaporite One is the lowest priced model in the range. The spec includes 10-speed Shimano Tiagra gearing, an FSA Omega BB30 compact crankset, Alex ALX-200 wheels and Tektro R525 brake callipers with cartridge pads.
Evaporite Two
The middle model in the range costs £1,499.99 and upgrades to Shimano 105, with an FSA Gossamer BB30 compact crankset, Shimano RS20 wheels, Shimano BR-R651 brake callipers and FSA cockpit kit (Wing Compact handlebar, OS-190 LX stem and SL-280 seatpost).
Evaporite Three
The range tops out with the all-black £1,999.99 Evaporite Three, with Shimano Ultegra, Cole C24 Lite wheels, Kenda Kaliente 23c tyres, an FSA Energy BB30 compact crankset and FSA cockpit kit (Wing Pro Compact handlebar, OS-150 LX stem and SL-280 seatpost).
Four frame sizes are available – small, medium, large and extra large. To find out more about new bikes from Pinnacle, who are UK bike shop chain Evans Cycles' in-house brand, visit http://pinnacle-bikes.co.uk.
