British fashion designer Paul Smith is probably best known in the cycling world for his work with road clothing company Rapha but he's now teamed up with Giro to create some special edition helmets.
Smith, an avid cycling fan whose dream of becoming a professional racer was ended by a bad accident as a teenager, has produced three designs for Giro's Section pisspot.
Although designed for dirt jumping, this type of helmet is proving increasingly popular with cycle commuters. And the large surface area, with fewer vents than standard road or cross-country lids, means plenty of space to get creative with.
“With cycling becoming ever more popular especially in cities, making a bike helmet which we feel good in is quite difficult,” said the designer. “I think the shape of these helmets is really great and the matt finishes are really good. Apart from offering them in plain colours I've also added some colourful designs to them which I hope add more fun to something which could save your life!”
The Paul Smith for Giro Section models are available exclusively in Paul Smith shops and online for £60/US$95.
