Spanish 2006 Tour de France winner Oscar Pereiro has visited Yorkshire to make a promo film for Harewood House’s Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling, which takes place over the July grand départ weekend.
And BikeRadar readers get a discount on camping pitches and festival tickets at the famous stately home between Harrogate and Leeds, which is on the route of stage 1.
Pereiro, who has a tie-in with Dare 2b, was filmed in the grounds of the photogenic 18th century Harewood House, which is expecting to host thousands of campers and revellers when the Tour party starts on 5 July.
Speaking at the filming, David Lascelles, eighth Earl of Harewood, said the grounds would be a great spot close to the action and warned that road closures could make it tricky to move around over the weekend.
He said: “The key thing is going to be to find your spot with your friends, your family, like-minded cycle enthusiasts and stay there and enjoy it, have a good party over the weekend,” he told the Yorkshire Post.
The Dare2B Yorkshire Festival of Cycling will include music, film premiers, big screens on which to watch the action, a shopping expo and participation events.
Pereiro said that after the Olympics, the Tour was the world’s biggest sporting spectacle, and congratulated Yorkshire on hosting the event.
