Orbea has launched a range of mountain bike wheels under its new affiliate, Oquo.

The three carbon-rimmed wheelsets in the brand’s Mountain Performance category prioritise weight saving for cross-country and trail riding, according to Oquo.

The brand says its two alloy Mountain Control wheelsets are more durable and suit trail and enduro riding on harsher terrain.

The Spanish company specs both the carbon and alloy rims with DT Swiss hubs and Sapim spokes.

The Oquo range ships with either Shimano Micro Spline or SRAM XD MTB freehubs.

Oquo adds that the front and rear rims are built differently in order to meet their own width and rigidity requirements.

Oquo says asymmetric rims make the wheels sturdier. - Oquo

They also have asymmetric rims. According to the brand, this design makes each spoke take a similar level of strain, requiring fewer spoke sizes and producing more resilient wheels.

Oquo builds the wheels in the Basque Country and allows you to personalise them (for example, their colour) at no extra cost.

All the wheels have a hookless profile and come with wheel bags, tubeless valves and tubeless sealant in the box.

The top-of-the-range XC wheels cost €1,999 and the most affordable Oquo wheelset is priced at €599. Oquo has not supplied international pricing.
