Navigation specialists Mio have launched a new range of computers to sit alongside their Cyclo 300 and 100 series. The Cyclo 500 series is a new range of lightweight devices with built in Wi-Fi functionality.
The computers have been developed for both road and mountain bikers and tip the scales at a claimed weight of 129g. Each device comes pre-loaded with maps and gets Mio's unique Mio 'Suprise Me' function, a fun mode that maps out a random route based on a specified distance or time no matter where you are in the country. An anti-glare screen is also standard across the range.
The Wi-Fi functionality allows a user's device to connect to their MioShare account without even turning on their home PC. Routes from the MioShare website or desktop application can be synchronised to the device at a push of the dedicated 'Wi-Fi sync' button. Similarly, any route can be uploaded post-ride to a user's MioShare account using the same sync button.
The range features three devices, the Mio Cyclo 505, the Cyclo 505 HC and the Cyclo 505 HC WEU. The top end HC WEU model drops in at £399.99/$599.99 and is bundled with a cadence sensor, heart rate monitor and includes European mapping. The 505 HC (£369.99/$549.99) gets the same bar the European maps. The cheapest Cyclo 505 package (£329.99/ $499.99) isn't bundled with any sensors or additional maps, but still retains the ANT compatibility of the more expensive options, leaving buyers open to future upgrade. You can't buy yet but stock will start rolling out come April 2013.
